Back to running

I stopped the antibiotics after yesterday morning's dosage.  I have about 3 days left but I'm going to save them for the self-medicating next time I get diverticulitis.  When I was traveling around the world, I'd buy Flagyl over the counter in Nepal to treat my bowel problems.  It worked so I figure I'll try to nip it in the bud the next time instead of waiting for it to become full bloom attack where I ended up with a fever.

I read uncomplicated diverticulitis (no blood or perforation of the intestinal wall) may not require antibiotics so I'll be more responsive and switch to a clear fluid fast right away and use my remaining antibiotics if the fasting doesn't work.  I found that my fever broke and my appetite returned after 3 days on antibiotics so that's what I have left.   I also decided to quit because it had been seven days on antibiotics and the ten day number wasn't based on evidence but just tradition.  At this point the antibiotics' side effect (diarrhea) was worse than the benefit it was offering me.  I loaded up with probiotics yesterday and am having healthier poops today.

I also ran 4.5 miles today.  Initially the toe was hurting but by the end I could feel the toe was not 100% but it wasn't hurting as much.  My run was ridiculously slow (9:50 min/mile) and I was really out of breath at the end but I'm hoping that's because I haven't run in 2 weeks.

I've got 19 days before the Tunnel Marathon.  I'm giving up on trying to BQ at this point.  I just hope I can still run it and finish.
