Day 7 on Antibiotics
- Abdomen feels fine, the Psoas muscle is no longer sore so I can lift my left leg without pain.
- Poops are still dark brown and soft but I think that's just the antibiotics wiping out all the good bacteria.
- Right toe is less in pain and the bruises are fading but it still hurts to push on the big toe; which ultimately is the one thing preventing me from resuming my training.
I still have 3 days worth of antibiotics left and I really don't want to continue with it. I've received antibiotic prescriptions in the past for 3 days, 7 days and 10 days for a variety of illnesses. This one is 10 days and I think that's too long. Looking back at my blog, it seems 3 days is the duration I needed to feel better and 5 days was probably the peak. Since then I feel like I'm doing more harm to my gut flora than making sure all the infection is gone from the diverticulitis.
Seems some researchers agree(https://www.bmj.com/content/358/bmj.j3418) I'm really tempted to stop now but at the same time remembering how much pain I was in a week ago makes me reluctant.
